About the Role
The Company is in search of a seasoned Head of Analytics to spearhead the development of comprehensive sports data systems and advanced metrics for its Roster Strategy service unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling a production-grade data stack, as well as developing proprietary metrics and player-valuation models that provide insights and create competitive advantages for athletic department clients. This role requires a leader with a strong background in full-stack analytical systems, experience in technical leadership, and the ability to own the technical direction and team development. The Head of Analytics will also be tasked with establishing scalable data infrastructure, recruiting and managing a high-performing data science team, and ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. Applicants for the Head of Analytics position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least 7 years of data science experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and building database systems, strong expertise in Python and/or R, experience with cloud ecosystems, and a history of developing and deploying machine learning models. Strong communication skills, the ability to translate complex analyses into business insights, and experience in leading technical teams are essential. While not required, a demonstrated understanding of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) in the collegiate athletics space is a plus. The role demands a proactive, self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and travel as needed.
