We’re looking for a motivated IT professional to step into the role of Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I within our Enhancements Service Center. The ITS I  plays an important role in the overall success of the FI$Cal system by providing highly visible production and system support.  In this role, you’ll apply functional analysis, practices and methods to departmental end-users regarding FI$Cal system incidents and change requests.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a team-oriented environment and wants to make a lasting impact on public service through technology.

The duties for this position are focused in the Business Technology Management domain, however, work may be assigned in the other domains as needed.

Please note that to be list appointed for placement in the Information Technology Specialist I classification, you must take and pass the examination.

Working Conditions

At FI$Cal, we currently offer a remote-centered position with the flexibility of telework up to three days per week. In-office attendance is mandatory on designated days and is subject to change. Our office is located at 2000 Evergreen Street, Sacramento, CA. Candidates residing outside of California are welcome to interview, but proof of California residency is required before appointment. Please note, relocation and commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.

This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a personal computer. Employees must demonstrate a commitment to maintain a working environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment. All staff must maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, maintain good working habits and adhere to all policies and procedures.

Visa Sponsorship

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with Department of FISCal.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

• The incumbent will use tact and interpersonal skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, e.g., stakeholders, customers, management, peers, etc., to facilitate communication to improve the work environment and increase productivity.
• This position requires the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and may require excess hours to be worked.  
• The incumbent provides back-up, as necessary, to ensure continuity of departmental activities.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Professional or State Accounting experience
• FI$Cal System / Department User experience
• Application Support/Operations & Maintenance experience
• Module experience in the areas of Project Costing, Customer Contract, Grants Management, General Ledger, Commitment Control and Cash Management - OR - 
• Module experience in the areas of Account Receivable and Billing experience
• Experience with functional Testing, Quality Assurance and Documentation of issues/resolutions
• Experience of Functional Analysis/requirements gathering/Root cause analysis
• Technical analysis/SQL queries, Database query experience
• Training and/or presentation experience

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with your application. The SOQ serves as a documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.

When completing the SOQ, you must title the page “Statement of Qualifications” and list the question, providing your answer below. When completing the SOQ please explain your answers thoroughly, including all relevant experience, education and training. The SOQ must be typed in 12-point Arial font and be no more than 2 pages in length with correct grammar use, punctuation and spelling. Your SOQ must address the following:

• Please describe how your experience, education and training qualifies you for the ITS I role. B e s ure to highlight at least three of your qualifications in relation to the desirable qualifications section and duty statement.
