Job Description

Studio Terrain aims to grow its landscape architecture studio by welcoming a talented Landscape Designer to the team. If you possess an enthusiasm for crafting distinctive outdoor environments, hold a degree in Landscape Architecture, and have a background of 2+ years in landscape design, you could be the perfect addition to our workforce.

We're particularly keen on individuals who possess a desire to broaden their expertise in Landscape Architecture, encompassing aspects such as planting, software development, and design execution. Studio Terrain is a distinguished design firm catering to luxury-level residential properties in the Greater Seattle area. As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with the Landscape Architect, fellow designers and Project Managers, contributing to various aspects of the design process, such as schematic design, plan set development, material selections, and permit acquisition. At Studio Terrain, we pride ourselves on being involved in every stage of a project, from its inception to the final punchlist walkthrough during construction.

Responsibilities:
  • Support our growing firm by providing project support, site planning, drafting and design development
  • Attend project design charettes and provide unique input during schematic design phase
  • On site inventory and analysis
  • Collaboration with consultants
  • Construction documentation and detailing
  • Planting design and palette development
  • Material palette development
  • Assist with construction administration tasks
  • Collaborate with construction project managers and crew

Required & Preferred Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the Landscape Architecture industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, taking direction from supervisors while thriving in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient hand drafting and hand rendering skills.
  • Capability to interpret and understand existing plan sets.
  • Preferred knowledge of native and ornamental planting specific to the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Expert-level proficiency in using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Land F/X, and Sketchup.
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • A strong passion for creating distinctive, aesthetically pleasing spaces tailored to luxury-level clientele.
  • A genuine passion for learning and continual growth within the landscape architecture industry.
  • Proficiency in on-site measuring and base map creation

Preferred:
  • Experience with digital 3D rendering software is a plus.
  • An expressed interest in pursuing a Washington State Landscape Architecture license
