Position Summary:

As a Planning Intern at JBPro, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on current planning projects, including land development regulations, zoning codes, development standards, and design guidelines. This internship is designed for individuals interested in community planning and urban development.

You will assist senior planners in applying planning principles and regulations, conducting research, and supporting public engagement activities. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of planning initiatives while developing key skills in planning processes, regulatory frameworks, and project management.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in applying planning principles, policies, regulations, and development standards from current planning projects, including land development regulations, zoning codes, and design standards.
  • Support the development of planning studies and reports to assist in planning projects and regulatory updates.
  • Help facilitate public participation and community engagement activities, including attending meetings and gathering feedback.
  • Assist in communicating technical issues and planning practices to various audiences through reports and presentations.
  • Contribute to the development of planning reports and initiatives based on community needs, concerns, and priorities, using both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Attend public workshops, hearings, and meetings to observe and support the presentation of planning information.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing planning materials for use by community groups, government agencies, and developers.
  • Learn about key planning issues, including land use policy, development regulations, transportation planning, environmental planning, and economic development.
  • Support GIS data collection and basic analysis under the guidance of senior planners.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and project management support as needed, ensuring all work is completed on time and in an organized manner.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in community planning, land use, zoning codes, and development regulations.
