Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-focused Accounting Analyst to join our team on a contract basis in Palm Springs, California. This role is pivotal in supporting the financial operations of our nonprofit organization by ensuring accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and payment processing. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, advanced technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance. Responsibilities: - Prepare, review, and accurately post journal entries in adherence to accounting guidelines. - Reconcile accounts and ensure alignment between balance sheets and income statements. - Process payments and oversee banking operations, including the accurate handling and reconciliation of gift card transactions. - Maintain comprehensive financial records while ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulatory standards. - Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analyses to support organizational decision-making. - Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to address payment inquiries and resolve discrepancies. - Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes for greater efficiency and reliability. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail, including expertise in journal entry preparation and financial statement relationships. - At least 2 years of experience in payment processing, banking, or a related field. - Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including formulas and data analysis tools. - Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all financial deliverables. - Familiarity with accounting software systems and nonprofit financial management is preferred. - Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general auditing practices. - Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and communicate professionally with stakeholders.
